These guides securely hold Renishaw\u00b4s new thin scales (with a cross-section of 8\u00d70.2 mm) and allow unimpeded expansion of the scales with their own coefficient of thermal expansion; with virtually no hysteresis. For example, the hysteresis value in the case of a 2-meter axis clamped in the center is the fraction of micron within the entire operating temperature range.
